Mission 26 Map

Map 26 (Chapter 6, Mission 2) is a 20x30 extra large-sized coastal map in TinyGroove. Its S-rank can be achieved if completed in <20 days. The mission has more villages than any other map in TinyGroove, however villages function entirely different and do not provide the player with gold on this map, only water villages do (and those function differently as well).

Mission Background[]

This map's introduction cut scene illustrates that a time distortion artefact is in effect for this battle. Artefact 'Z' is manipulating the flow of time for each player's turn in this battle. Instead of WarGroove's typical turn-based tactics rules allowing each unit and structure to have one action per turn, now units can move multiple times and complete multiple actions per turn! The number of actions a player has per turn corresponds to the number of villages the player controls on the map. Instead of providing revenue per turn, each village you control affords you one additional action. The map begins with you and Sedge each controlling 1 village per turn, and each getting one action per turn. An action is defined as:

  • Moving a Unit
  • Attacking with a Unit
  • Recruiting a Unit from a Barracks, Port, or Tower, or
  • Using a Commander's Groove

Eventually, as more actions are available per turn, the player will need to carefully protect their commander since conceivably Sedge or any of his units can deep strike into your territory by recruiting a giant or Harpy, move it to the front lines, and attack with it half a dozen times before they run out of actions! At the beginning of each player's turn, a prompt informs each player of how many actions they have that turn.

Helpful Tips[]

As a result of the time dilation around Bear Lake, this battle plays out over one of the largest maps in TinyGroove, but can be won in less than 15 days with some skill. To combat the initial rush, Sedge has two impenetrable barriers that will appear preventing passage to his Stronghold (that will appear as you approach it) until the player controls a certain number of villages. The outer barrier falls after controlling 25 villages, while the inner barrier falls after controlling 35 (nearly all of) the map's 40 total villages.

Since villages don't provide income on this map, water villages should be captured and controlled early. Each turn you control a water village, it expands to represent a new level until each of the water villages can become a floating metropolis cluster of 5 water villages. If the enemy destroys a water village, it shrinks down to the size the water village colony was prior to building the expansion that was lost. Thus claiming and holding these early is a prominent key to victory. Prevent Sedge from claiming any ports or building any battle ships and keep his flyers at bay with Harpoon Ships to win!

The Littoral Bear, Artefact 'Z', is hidden at the pond's center. After you own all 5 water villages and have owneed them for at least 5 turns, they will all have reached their maximum size. At thins point, you should have 25 water villages on the map, and Greenfinger will appear in the middle of pond and give the artefact to you, encouraging you to leave the forest. He then proceeds to spawn loads of vines each turn for the rest of the map, making reaching him difficult.

This is your chance to recruit Greenfinger! It is tough though... First, you must have Elodie on the map, which requires you to lose Dark Mercia at some point in the battle, (but not Elodie as well, or you'll fail the mission). Secondly, Elodie needs to be at the lakeshore (any beach tile adjacent to the Lake will count) when you defeat Greenfinger. Do this, and he will join you instead of simply dying (and removing his vines) when you defeat him.

All of this information was gleaned from the in-game spoilers unlocked in the Achievement Castle by completing at least 80% of the game and destroying the red gates comprising the 'Campaign Completion Counter'.

Conversely to Chapter 6, Mission 1, this map favors upgraded* archers (since they can attack without enemy response) and soldiers (since they can cheaply claim and defend structures).
